Sign in as the Quality Inspector first, then as the Administrator. The sidebar shortens and the pages that role has no business seeing are simply not there – and because the same permission map guards the server, a hidden page cannot be reached by typing its URL either.
These credentials are public on purpose. They are the seeded logins of a shared demo instance that resets, not of anybody’s live factory. Your own copy ships with the same seeded accounts, and changing them is step one.

In the seeded factory – TimberCraft Furniture Manufacturing, a fictional works the system ships pre-loaded – work in progress by stage reads Cutting 0, CNC Machining 1, Edge Banding 6, Assembly 9, Sanding 8, Finishing 6, Upholstery 1 and Packing 10. Thirty-nine work orders are on the floor, two of them on hold, and ten are past their planned finish.
That is not a static picture. Every work order carries a route, and an Advance action moves it to the next workstation, so the queue counts move as the shop moves. The eight workstations themselves are configurable records, not hard-coded strings: Cutting, CNC Machining, Edge Banding, Assembly, Sanding, Finishing, Upholstery and Packing, each with a capacity per shift, a shop rate per hour, a supervisor and a machine count. The seeded works is rated at 795 units a shift across 22 machines running at 75.3% average utilisation.
Consumption Against the Bill of Material
The Bill of Materials page is where a furniture business either controls its wood or does not. In the seed there are 349 BOM lines covering all 48 catalogue SKUs and 59 distinct materials. Each line names the material, the quantity per unit, the unit of measure, a wastage allowance and the rate – and, usefully, a scrap note explaining the allowance: “Offcut returned to stock”, “Pattern match allowance”, “Edge trim scrap”, “Overspray allowance”. Average allowance across the book is 3.3%.
Against that sits the Wastage page, which is the honest half of the same story: 127 entries worth Rs. 1.59 L against Rs. 87.71 L of material issued, or 1.8% of issue, each entry tagged with a reason – Cutting Offcut, Machining Error, Damaged in Handling, Fabric Pattern Match, Finish Rejection, Warped Stock. What the Job Actually Cost, Rework Included
Costing is where most home-grown systems stop at material and labour and quietly ignore everything else. This one splits every work order four ways – material, labour, overhead and rework – and shows the total cost, the value and the margin percentage on the same row, marked Provisional while the job is live and Final once it closes. The labour half of that comes from job cards, not from a timesheet – 1,291 cards, 6,287 hours, 573.95 of them overtime, Rs. 13.89 L in total, each row tied to an employee, a work order, a workstation, a shift and a rate. The rework half comes from Quality. 1,357 stage inspections at Assembly, Finishing and Packing give a first pass yield of 92.6%, with 264 units sent to rework and 80 rejected outright. Sales Orders carries 260 records with the channel it came through (Direct, Dealer, Project, Online), the type (Catalogue, Made To Order, Repeat, Sample), a promised date, a priority and a status that walks from Draft through Confirmed, In Production, Ready, Dispatched and Delivered. Downstream, 220 dispatch notes record transporter, vehicle number, units, value, promised and delivered dates and an on-time yes/no – 207 delivered, 13 on the road, 90.3% on time. Then 121 installation jobs schedule a fitting team, log the hours and capture a customer rating, averaging 4.06 out of 5. Finally 220 invoices (Rs. 8.37 Cr billed, Rs. 6.69 Cr collected, Rs. 1.69 Cr outstanding of which 39 are overdue) and 244 receipts across six payment modes close the loop.
Roles, and Why They Matter More Than Features
Twelve seeded accounts sit across six roles – Administrator, Production Manager, Store Keeper, Sales Executive, Quality Inspector, Accountant – over 59 permissions. The Accountant owns invoicing, payments, costing and the financial reports but only reads customers and stock. The Quality Inspector records inspections, rework and wastage and reads the production side but touches no money. The Store Keeper owns purchasing and stock and reads work orders.
The important detail is that one permission map drives both the sidebar and the server-side check. A page a role cannot see is also a call that role cannot make, so hiding a menu item is not the security. Every change lands in an audit log – 122 entries in the seed, across 16 modules and all 12 users, with the record id and what happened.
Fifteen Reports, and the Archive Behind Them
Reports: Production Output, WIP by Stage, On-Time Delivery, Material Consumption vs BOM, Wastage Analysis, Machine Utilisation, Order to Cash Status, Product Profitability, Purchase Register, Sales Register, Stock Valuation, Employee Productivity, Quality and Reject Analysis, Customer Ledger and Outstanding Receivables. Each takes a date range, draws a chart, breaks the total down by category and exports or prints the rows behind it.
Because the database is a Google Sheets file, and Sheets has a practical size limit, there is a Database Archive page. Pick a cutoff date and the closed statuses you are happy to move, preview the affected rows, and the system copies the entire database into your Drive before removing eligible closed transactions from 21 transaction tables. Master data, open orders and live work orders are never touched, and every run is written to the audit log.
Setting It Up
- Open the live demo above and sign in as two different roles. Ten minutes there beats any feature list.
- Create a new Google Apps Script project. Paste
Code.cs.txtintoCode.gs. Add an HTML file named exactlyIndexand pasteIndex.txtinto it. - Deploy as a web app: Execute as Me, Who has access Anyone. Copy the URL.
- Run setup once – from the First run panel on the sign-in card, or by running
setupin the editor. It builds the database spreadsheet, all 43 sheets, roughly 14,830 seeded rows and the Drive folder tree for photos, drawings and proof of delivery. Setup is staged and resumable, so a slow free account carries on by itself rather than timing out. - Sign in as
adminand change every seeded password in User Management. Delete the accounts you do not need. - Set company details, currency, tax, overhead rate, on-time target and print size on Settings.
- Import your customers, materials and products, or clear the seeded transaction rows and start clean – keeping the header row and at least one administrator.

Honest Limits
The seeded factory is Indian – rupees, lakh and crore, an 18% default tax, a GSTIN field on the company record. Currency symbol, tax rate and financial year start are all Settings fields, so one pass through that page changes every screen and every printed document.furniture manufacturing management system web app
Two figures on different pages are measured differently, and it is worth knowing which you are quoting. On-time delivery reads 88.9% on the dashboard and 90.3% on the Dispatch page, because one is scoped to the recent order book and the other to delivered dispatch notes. Gross margin reads 32.1% on the dashboard (last thirty days) and 31.1% on the Costing page (all 480 costed jobs). Booked hours read 6,287 on Job Cards and 6,861 on Employees, because the two cards sum over different sets of rows – for reporting, take the Job Cards figure or the Employee Productivity report.
